5. Valspar

Valspar has PhD Scientist position at High Point, NC Wood group. The preferred candidate would have a PhD in Chemistry  or Chemical Engineering.  Candidate is expected to plan and lead multiple technical research projects through the commercialization process based on project objectives, budget, and timelines.  Scientist position will require a person capable of conducting research according to LSS design principles through direct interaction with emerging customers.  The candidate will have to be excellent at presenting and guiding projects to ensure commercialization opportunities are realized.  Ultimately, the candidate will have to apply a thorough understanding of the coatings industry and competitive technologies to develop successful products, application methods, or optimize manufacturing processes depending on customer need.  The major responsibility of the scientist position is introducing new technologies to the wood group at Valspar and serving as the primary contact for complex internal or external questions.

We currently seek an experienced R&D Manager.  The purpose of this position is to drive and manage the global product development process for Colorbiotics from concept to commercialization. We have a growing R&D and Quality Control Team dedicated specifically to the Colorbiotics product line.  We seek an R&D Manager who is up to the challenge of creating diversification through commercialization of technologies into new and existing markets, while staying devoted to continuous improvement of our current technologies. We are seeking an individual who has a strong technical back ground in Polymers and Coatings combined with the aptitude of converting technologies into field applications.  

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science (Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred) or related fields, with a Master's preferred. Emphasis on Polymers and Coatings preferred. Strong background in dispersion and color knowledge is a plus. A minimum of 15 years experience in commercial product development from concept to commercialization required, with experience working with pigments, dies, colorants, coatings, UV cure technology, paint, and/or ink industries preferred. Must have demonstrable experience in driving new applications of existing technologies to market and a process-oriented approach. High level of formulation and application experience required. At least 5 yrs of leadership and R&D/QC staff management experience required with emphasis in training, motivating, and developing talent.

CAS-MI Laboratories is seeking chemists and/or paint formulation chemists with 1-3 years of experience.  Paint testing and coating testing experience, as well as paint formulation and coating formulation experience required. Paint chemists will be working in an analytical laboratory and coatings formulation laboratory. A minimum of a B.S. degree in chemistry or other related discipline. Knowledge of plastics testing and processing is a plus.
